Beiseker RCMP Detachment Updates

From the desk of the Detachment Commander:

I would like to take the opportunity to update everyone on the latest changes at your local RCMP Detachment.

First of all, I would like to apologize to each and everyone of you in regards to our latest administrative office closure.  This had to be done in order for my employee to return to work in full capacity.  Rest assured that the detachment operations and police service delivery were not affected during that period.  During this time we tried to mitigate the administrative  requests through Three Hills Detachment and /or appointment which ended up being difficult and frustrating for some of you.  To those of you that were affected by this temporary absence, I would like to sincerely apologize on behalf of my detachment.  I would also like to advise all of you that administrative hours are now back to normal.  Detachment sign and voice mail have been modified accordingly.

Secondly, I would like to inform you of the departure of Constable Ben Chen who has been serving you for the past 5 years.  Constable Chen is heading to Surrey, British Columbia where he will be part of Surrey’s Serious Crimes Unit.  On behalf of the Beiseker Detachment, I would like to thank him for his service here and wish him all the best in this new chapter of his career.

To replace Constable Chen, I would like to welcome Constable Matthew Zorz to the Beiseker Detachment as a new member of our team coming straight from the RCMP Depot Academy.  Constable Zorz comes with a background as a Naval Warfare Officer where he was a reservist for several years.  Please welcome Constable Zorz as a new member of our team serving your community.

Two weekends ago I was requested to be part of the Sirens Charity Hockey game in Airdrie.  I had the opportunity to be the goaltender for Team Blue (RCMP/Municipal Enforcement) where we defeated Team Red (Airdrie Fire Dept/Alberta Health Services) in the great spirit of raising donations for the Airdrie Lioness Christmas Hamper program.  If you would like your local RCMP members to be involved in community events, please contact me at the detachment so we can make it happen.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
